Hello

Marilina Skarpeta was born in Patras, Greece, into a very artistic family. From a very young age, she loved all kinds of crafts — she made bracelets out of pasta and painted stones she found by the sea.

At the age of 18, she opened her first business, a small shop selling handmade creations, while studying Telecommunications and Networks.
In 2007, she moved to Athens for love and started her second business — a mobile pet grooming service. But she could never keep color out of her life. So, she went on to study Comics and Illustration.

In 2022, she received a distinction in the illustration competition of the Women’s Literary Society of Greece.
Today, as a mother of one child and two dogs, she works exclusively as a children’s book illustrator and author.

In 2023, she was honored with an award from the Women’s Literary Society in the category “Illustration for Children and Young People” for her work Creating Cities.

At 34, loving everything that has happened so far and still not knowing exactly what she wants to be when she grows up, she feels that maybe everything led her to become an illustrator.

Since 2021, more than 25 published books carry her name, with at least 10 more currently on the way.

My Story

Once upon a time, in a very artistic family, there was a little girl who loved colors more than anything.
She dreamed that one day she would have her own little shop full of handmade creations.
So she started making jewelry out of pasta and cotton swabs and sold them to her grandmothers. Seven years old — but already a real businesswoman!

By the time she turned eighteen, she had made that dream come true and opened her first shop.
As she grew up, she changed many jobs and ideas. Some say it’s because she’s an artist, others blame it on her zodiac sign — Aquarius — and some simply think she’s indecisive. She insists she just loves learning new things.

She also studied Telecommunications, a field that never really expressed her, since it had no color in it.
At twenty-seven, she moved to Athens with her dog, Keftes. There, she studied Illustration and decided to dedicate herself entirely to it, combining it with writing children’s books.

Today, loving everything that has brought her here — and still not knowing what she wants to be when she grows up — she feels that maybe everything happened so she could become an illustrator.

Hello there, I’m Marilina — and I was once that little girl.
